LAND CONNECTIONS
Marmaris has good road connections and a large bus terminal with numerous bus
companies offering fast services to all major cities in Turkey. Vehicles are
modern, air-conditioned and comfortable, often with an onboard refreshments
service. Almost all bus stations in Turkey have good amenities such as shops,
restaurants, snack bars and WC facilities to break up your journey, although
express services will make limited stops.
Around town and to access other local towns and villages, take advantage of the
cheap and efficient minibus services, known as “dolmuş”. These small but
comfortable vehicles are often quite crowded, hence the name “dolmuş”, which
means “stuffed”! They do however make it very easy to get around Marmaris, as
you can hop on or off almost anywhere, and they also operate regular services
from the centre of town to surrounding villages such as Orhaniye, Selimiye,
Hisarönü and Çamlı.
Yellow taxi ranks are also plentiful around the town if you prefer to take a
private car to your desination. Set fares to local towns are often detailed on a
board at the taxi rank and cabs run a meter to calculate the price of shorter
trips around town.
